Deane Manley is a seasoned leader in New Zealand’s crane and lifting-equipment industry, serving as Managing Director (and previously CEO/Director) at New Zealand Crane Hire (NZ Crane Hire).
Over more than two decades with NZ Crane Hire, Deane has overseen the company’s expansion and evolution into one of the country’s foremost crane hire specialists. He is deeply involved in strategic planning, operations, safety and training, fleet upgrades, and client relationships.
Under his stewardship, NZ Crane Hire has been involved in high-profile lifting projects, including erecting one of New Zealand’s tallest cranes for the Commercial Bay development in Auckland. The company also supported Emirates Team New Zealand by lifting their AC75 racing yacht as an official supplier for the America’s Cup.
Deane is actively engaged in the wider industry: he has held leadership roles in the Crane Association of New Zealand and serves as its current President. He continues to advocate for stronger training, licensing and long-term infrastructure planning in the lifting sector.
Before fully dedicating his efforts to the crane and lifting industry, Deane worked in senior roles in the financial sector, including at UDC and GE Capital, which enriched his expertise in finance, strategy, and investment decisions.
Deane is known for blending technical rigour with strategic vision, a passion for safety and industry development, and a hands-on approach to managing complex lifting challenges.
